News 2010

Another new year and another year packed full of news for the stud no doubt! With eight foals to be born, a young colt to license and a packed show team both ridden and inhand 2010 looks to be very busy!

** In Spring 2010, we took the first oppourtunity we could to test our current stallions and broodmares for the Foal Immunological Syndrome genetic disorder. More common in the Fell pony and recently found in the Dales Pony we are pleased to report ALL our current stallions and broodmares have tested CLEAR for the FIS. DPS Certificates can be seen and our stallions stand at stud to ANY Dales mare regardless of FIS status as the crossing of our CLEAR stallions to your mare can not result in a foal dying of FIS **

The DPS and Animal Health Trust of Newmarket recommend the continued breeding from carrier status ponies, ensuring they are soley put to CLEAR stallions/mares. More information on the DPS/FPS Websites.

June

w/c June 21st - What a wow wow wow! week for us and the Nipna Ponies.

We made the trip down to Cheshire County on Wednesday to see Rebel (Lowhouses Rebel) and Sarah WIN and qualify for HOYS. Its our first ever qualification for HOYS and we just can't wait to see him in action down there.

Then on Friday we made the long trip northwards to the Royal Highland Show. Our first time and what a show it is, we will definatly be back. Nipna Good King Henry won a strong yearling class which we are simply delighted about as he is such a nice natured yearling and takes everything in his own stride.

The star of the day however was Lowhouses Black Magic, 1st M&M Stallions, Champion M&M, Supreme M&M Inhand (Waxwing Trophy), and finally Reserve Cuddy Supreme Inhand champion. Just wow.

May

1st - DPS Spring Breed Show

We had a very good day at the 2010 Spring Stallion show, we had a few entered but in the end just took two ponies.

Nipna Good King Henry was 2nd in a strong yearling colt class and also recieved his first Colt Premium so we are very pleased with him.

Colliery Magic was 1st in the Gelding 4-6 year old Inhand class and then stood overall Reserve Gelding Champion.

Nipna Foxglove, owned and exhibited by Ms A Wallace had another very successful day standing a very good second in the 2 year old filly class.

April -

25th - NPS Area 4 Spring Show

Wolsey Xabi had a very successful day

1st Large Breeds 2/3 yr old class

Champion M&M (non Welsh)

Reserve Overall Supreme M&M inc Welsh

Nipna Good King Henry also won his yearling colt class. Good lads!

25th - Our final foal a much-hoped for colt out of Hodgson Lane Lucky Lady by Lowhouses Black Magic. He is Nipna Heath.

20th - Hodgson Lane Alice has foaled a beautiful BROWN (!) colt by Dartdale Grey Bobbie II. He named himself Trevor but will be Nipna Huckleberry for posh!

11th - Coverdales Carnival Queen has foaled our fifth filly of the year. Nipna Honesty is absolutly beautiful and looks (very excitingly!) to be our very first Blue Roan Dales filly. She is by Lowhouses Black Magic.

March -

30th - Wolsey Xabi has recieved his stallion license today! He will be standing at Public Stud.

28th - Nipna Ballotta Nigra has foaled! A huge sigh of relief after the saddness of last year, Lottie foaled a lovely filly very easily and quickly this afternoon. Nipna Hazel is the last foal by the late Hodgson Lane Black Knight

22nd - A little boy out of Nipna Clematis is born. Nipna Herb Robert (Herbie for short) looks like he will be grey just like his full brother Nipna Good King Henry. Herbie is by Dartdale Grey Bobbie II and has a star.

15th - Another filly! Hodgson Lane Finality has had a gorgeous filly (all black again!) again by Lowhouses Black Magic.

10th - Sunnybrowe Penny has foaled! A few days late she has given birth to a beautiful black filly by Lowhouses Black Magic. Nipna Heather is Pennys' fifth filly out of five foals, all to Black Magic. We always keep Pennys foal and therefore Heather will be retained and shown in the future years.

A quiet start to 2010, Wolsey Xabi has passed his vetting for licensing and will go forward for approval by the DPS Council in the next few weeks. He has been running with a Blue and White mare for the last few months and she has tested in foal to him. He will be used on some of our Dales mares this year providing his licensing goes ok.
