Welcome to Nipna Stud 2009, all our recent news and happenings should appear here when we get a chance to update it. Do keep an eye on our "For Sale" page (here) as we may have stock for sale through-out the year, with a few foals due in 2009 to three different stallions there will be some foals for sale at weaning time.
December -
13th - DPS Area 2 Christmas Lunch - We had 47 attend the DPS Area 2 Christmas Lunch held at the Countryman, Bolam. A fab 3 course lunch followed by a raffle in aid of the DPS Foal Immuno-syndrome Fund (raising approx £70).

24th - Nipna Gypsy Boy (Prince) has gone to his new home today, best of luck to him and his new owners.

The foals are now weaned and starting to get them ready to either go to their new homes or to show this autumn. All the foals will lead/tie/load/have their feet trimmed by the farrier etc etc before they leave to try to make the big move easier for them. They are also stabled at night and handled as much as possible to make them happy foals.

26th - Tudor Annie and Lowhouses Minstrel went showjumping today. Annie won the 2ft6, Minstrel won the 1ft9 classes
25th - We took 2 ponies out on a pleasure ride today around a local Cross-country course
This month we have scanned in Hodgson Lane Finality, Nipna Ballotta Nigra, Nipna Clematis, Coverdales Carnival Queen and Tarbal Peggy Macdonald all in foal for 2010. One left to go!
10th - Newark and Notts County show
Annie's first county show!!
3rd - Laura is slowly recovering after her accident at the end of March, she now has a full-pot on her wrist but is most looking forward to it coming off again in a few weeks time!
2nd - Dales Pony Society Spring Breed Show
Tudor Annie - 1st Ridden Snr Mares and Overall Ridden Champion. Thankyou very much to Emily for helping us out and doing such a fab job. Annie also qualified for the Court Farm Ridden Dales Pony of the year final to be held at the performance show 2009.
Congratulations to Amanda Wallace for winning an exceptionally strong yearling filly class with Nipna Foxglove and standing Reserve Youngstock Champion.
All other Nipna ponies come home with a rosette including a second place for Nipna Good King Henry who cheerfully pinged himself around the ring following his mum and seemed to enjoy his day out!

Tudor Annie - 1st Dales/fell/highland Picton and Reserve Champion Ridden! Qualifying for the Picton Final!
18th - NPS Area 4.
Lowhouses Black Magics' first outing of the year winning a very strong large breeds M&M class, taking reserve champion M&M and then the eventual reserve Supreme M&M qualifying for the Roseberry Final at NPS 4 at the end of summer. Congratualtions again to Amanda Wallace and Nipna Foxglove for winning the yearling class.

31st - Laura broke her wrist in a simple accident on the gallops today, after a few days stay in hospital and a operation she is now plated and plastered but is expected to be off for a good couple of months. Hopefully her and Sonny will be back in the ring by the end of the summer.

21st - Roandale Rock. We're v.pleased to have Rocky with us for the summer to show for his owners, Charlie and Gina Parker of Roandale Stud. As a rare bay roan dales, he should be very distinctive in the ring this summer!

14th - Tudor Annie went Indoor Cross-countrying for the Durham and District Riding Club at the Area 2 competition at Holmside Arena. She completed the 70cm course, her first time over solid fences so v.pleased with her!!
January 2009
A quiet month at the stud whilst we get over the winter worst! Ginny, now aged 30, is thriving well and particularly enjoyed the recent spell of snow (well it makes a change from Mud!!).
Otherwise a quiet month, Tudor Annie and Lowhouses Sonny have been busy with more RC rallies and Tudor Annie went showjumping again at Richmond EC. Coming away with a double-clear in the 60cm class and 5th place and just rolling a pole in the 70cm, she is doing fantastic.
